On September 12th, the Steelers officially released practice squad tight end Jamie McCoy, replacing him with former Pitt tight end Dorin Dickerson. Dickerson proclaimed that he was excited to be home in the burgh and was issued number 80.
Today Post Gazette writer Ed Bouchette tweeted that Dorin Dickerson had quit the Steelers practice squad after one day. This angered Dorin Dickerson who tweeted back that he did not quit but could not explain more.
A spokesman for the Steelers released a statement shortly thereafter Dickerson was hurt but he would not elaborate more on the situation. As of today the Steelers website had removed Dorin Dickerson from the roster and replaced him with Jamie McCoy, he will wear #45.
Not really big news when it is a practice squad player but as a Pitt fan I loved the signing. We may never really know what happened, but I am down a bit that it didn't work out.
